raises funds for Ana Kostić (2017).

Ana was born on 7 February 2017 in Niš. She is the first child from the second high-risk pregnancy. The mother was later found to have congenital thrombophilia. She was born naturally weighing only 780 grams and 33 cm.

At birth, she had sepsis caused by Escherichia, which was instantly treated. Later, in the 5th week , she got severe inflammation of the CNS, Encephalitis, then sepsis again, grade II bleeding, all caused by Klebsiella bacteria, which entered the body as a respiratory infection, which then spread to the blood and then to the cerebrospinal fluid. Due to the long retention of this bacterium, hydrocephalus developed and a VP shunt was installed in the 3rd month.

After 5 months at the Institute of Neonatology, Ana was discharged home with a bad prognosis. During the first year, she had 8 interventions on the brain (shunt revision, cyst excision, external drainage). At the age of 11 months, she caught measles, then chickenpox. She also had the coxsackie virus. She was diagnosed with West syndrome (the most severe form of epilepsy), cerebral palsy and hemiparesis of the left side.

Ana has a large cyst in her left ventricle, severe brain damage and atrophy of the brain stem. She doesn't follow with gaze, she doesn't have complete control of the head, she is not able to sit, walk or talk. She does not communicate, she does not understand when someone calls her name, but she recognizes her mother's and father's voice as well as the voice of her grandmothers, whom she loves immensely.

Ana is being treated at the Clinic for Rehabilitation "Dr Miroslav Zotović" in Belgrade and at the Clinic for Neurology and Psychiatry for Children and Youth Dr Subotić.

Despite all difficulties, Ana is a happy girl. To make her life easier, she needs us all.

Ana needs funds for treatment, specialist and control examinations, diagnostics, rehabilitation, physical treatments, orthopedic and medical aids, medical consumables for stem cell treatments as well as for travelling  and accommodation costs.
