Humanitarian Foundation BUDI HUMAN - Aleksandar Šapić

raises funds for Ljiljana Gavranov (1979)

Ljiljana suffers from breast cancer (C 50.9, C 79.5)

The problems started in 2004 when she was 25 years old. Since then, she went for periodic check-ups due to high prolactin and everything was fine until 2006, when she was diagnosed with cancer after ultrasound and then on magnetic resonance imaging. She was advised for a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and installation of medical implants.

Ljiljana refused the operation and continued to go for regular recommended check-ups at the Instute of Oncology in Sremska Kamenica.

In 2007, the diagnosis changed and Ljiljana was still advised to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.

At the beginning of 2009, with a core biopsy, Ljiljana got the first official confirmation of her diagnosis  "in situ cancer", but then, without knowing it, she was pregnant with her first child.

She refused the proposed abortion and emergency surgery and gave birth to her first child in September 2009, and the second in December 2010.

Findings after both deliveries remained the same, no progression. Ljiljana continued to go for regular periodical check-ups.

However, during 2014, the lesions in the left breast suddenly increased and Ljiljana decided to have surgery. She was operated on in October 2014. The PH test showed that it was hormone-dependent multifocal infiltrative ductal carcinoma of the left breast and one affected lymph node in the left axilla. She had the recommended radiotherapy. She continued to be monitored periodically, on the advice of an internist oncologist. She had no problems.

At the end of 2017, she got pregnant with her third child. During pregnancy, there were occasional pains in the left leg and in the left and right hip. An MRI of the pelvis was performed, but no metastatic changes were seen. Unfortunately, the pregnancy ended in May 2018 with childbirth at the 35th week of pregnancy due to fetal asphyxia. After that, at the first regular check-up in October 2018, she was diagnosed with a new  metastatic change on the left pelvic bone.

Therapies started with the medicine Nolvadex, and then with other hormonal medicines that kept the disease under control until December 2021, when pains in the thoracic spinal vertebrae appeared.

At the end of February, Ljiljana was paralysed and was forced to use a wheelchair. Radiotherapy began to neutralize the pain, followed by chemotherapy, 8 series of AC and 3 docetaxels. The condition  improved significantly, but Ljiljana still could not move independently. Control imaging is expected, followed by a proposal for new therapies.

She needs funds for dendritic cell therapy in Ulm, Germany (two therapies are needed to trigger the immune system to destroy malignant cells) as well as for Tomo therapy at a clinic abroad where targeted radiation is performed on all changes without damages the surrounding healthy tissue, specialist examinations, analyses, medicines, supplements, medications, as well as for travelling and accommodation costs abroad during therapy.
