Sergej Stojkov was born in the 24th week of pregnancy weighing only 770 grams.

It was a twin pregnancy, complicated by the loss of the amniotic fluid of the first twin in the 12th week, and was maintained until delivery itself. Sergej's twin brother lost his life within hours of birth while he continued to fight for his life due to complications during and after birth and ongoing infections, 1st degree of brain bleeding, breathing problems and the need for mechanical ventilation.

Sergej was diagnosed with H351 Retinopathia praematuri, P271 Dysplasia bronchopulmonalis perinatalis and F83 Disordines evolutionis specifici mixti.

After 113 days spent at the Children's Hospital in Novi Sad, Sergej was discharged for home treatment. Since then, he has had physical treatments occasionally at the Children's Hospital in Novi Sad, and mostly at home, but there has been very little progress.

At the age of 2 years and 2 months, he is still not able to sit, crawl, walk, talk, eat mushy food or see well.

Sergej is a very cheerful boy, a big cuddler and eager to play with his older brother whom he loves very much.

He needs funds for physical therapy, speech therapy and defectology treatments, specialist and control examinations and ophthalmological aids.
