Helena was born naturally in term after the second normal pregnancy. She was a healthy and cheerful girl, played with her older sister, went to nursery and enjoyed her childhood. She progressed like any other child, until the 16th month, when she lost the ability to walk within 4 days. At the Institute for Health Care of Children and Youth of Vojvodina, she soon underwent an MR examination of the endocranium and the thoracic segment of the spinal column, which revealed that she had a massive malignant tumor in the chest between the heart and lungs, which had already progressed to the spine and was pressing on the spinal column. Thanks to the quick response of the doctors at the Institute, Helena underwent emergency surgery and a part of the tumor located near the spinal column was successfully removed, with the maximum reduction of the tumor mass from the spinal canal, which preserved her ability to walk.

After the results of the histopathological findings, she was diagnosed with: malignant tumor of the chest (C76.1 Neoplasma malignum thoracis), neuroblastoma, poorly differentiated type. After the completion of the diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy started in order to shrink the tumor. So far, she has received 4 cycles, and after the MR examination, a decision will be made on the further course of treatment.

Helena is awaiting another difficult chest surgery abroad, in order to remove as much of the primary tumor as possible, and after the surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy, all depending on the condition and progression of the neuroblastoma, which is why everyone's help is necessary, especially donations of all generous people in order to collect the amount for treatment as soon as possible.

Funds are needed for hospital treatment, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, specialist examinations and diagnostics, medications, travel and accommodation costs during the  treatment, as well as for regular check-ups after it.
