In July 2022, Ilija jumped into the lake and injured his neck, after which he was hospitalized. Fractures and luxations of the c4-c5 cervical vertebrae were found, so he was referred to the  Institute for Orthopedic Surgery "Banjica", where traction was performed and then surgery to stabilize the cervical spine. Eventually he was diagnosed with tetraplegia  ( G82.5 Tetraplegia, non specificata).

It is necessary to continue rehabilitation at a private clinic.

Given that the costs of this type of treatment are very high, the help of all generous people's donations is needed.

Funds are needed for stem cell treatments, rehabilitation as well as for neurorobotic rehabilitation.
