At the weekly basketball match with his team, that is with him now too, his heart stopped and due to the long reanimation and lack of oxygen, he remained in a persistent vegetative state (PVS), which means a minimally conscious state. At that moment, Mladen was a final year student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade. A former active basketball player, he loves skiing, tennis and all kinds of socializing and recreation.

Mladen was implanted with a neurosurgical implant for deep brain stimulation in Croatia and with defibrillator that enabled him to rehabilitate. The surgeries and four months of rehabilitation abroad were funded by family with the help of many friends.

Upon returning to the country, in addition to Mladen being hospitalized, his condition worsened.

After contacting several rehabilitation centers abroad, the family was determined to take Mladen for an evaluation of his current situation and a proposal for further rehabilitation. As the cost of treatment and rehabilitation is expensive, the family needs financial help.

This young man has a smile back on his face, but neurologists say emotions do not make the condition conscious. With the help of all of us, the family wants to bring Mladen back to the sports fields he loves and include him in the regular activities of his peers.
