Before her injury, Danijela had a normal, healthy life. Always energetic, smiling and full of positive energy, she lives in the village of Zmajevo with her parents and younger brother.

Returning from work in the evening, on 31 October 2016.  her car went off the road into the deep canal, under unexplained circumstances and she suffered severe injuries. There were no eyewitnesses at that point, so her father and brother found her the next day. Danijela spent nine hours trapped in a smashed car unable to call for help because of her injuries.

She was urgently transferred to Clinical Center of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, where CT diagnostics revealed injuries of the cervical spinal column C6-7, fractures of the spinal extension Th3,4 and Th9-12 and fracture L2 with compression of the spinal canal, fracture of the right humerus, linear fracture of the right acetabulum. She also had a contusion of the frontal part of the brain on the right side and pneumothorax. The spine was operated on four occasions, drained and cannulated.

After stabilization of the general condition and regaining of spontaneous breathing, she was transferred to rehabilitation in Slankamen where she stayed for five weeks. Rehabilitation is interrupted by daily episodes of febrility, that’s why she was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Clinical Center of Vojvodina where she was treated for urinary infection, where a wound decannulation was done in the healing phase.

In January 2017, she was transferred to the rehabilitation clinic "Dr Miroslav Zotovic" in Belgrade. There she was treated through physio, working and electrical therapies which all gave  a visible improvement - she could finally take a sitting position with a support, move with a mechanical wheelchair, getting full range of motion in the shoulder and elbow. Danijela began to eat  and maintain personal hygiene on her own.

Doctors suggested that she should have three treatments of stem cell transplantation in order to improve the overall and neurological condition. Let’s provide her with funds to continue with rehabilitation, and make her dreams come true to come back to her goals, folk dance and work.
