Stefan was a healthy child at birth, born after regularly checked pregnancy. But when he was two and a half months old, he got the first epileptic seizure. After a thorough examination he was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis. 

Tuberous sclerosis is a multisystemic disease caused by a gene mutation. It is incurable, unpredictable and very rare disease. Tuberous sclerosis can have slight effects but it can also cause severe mental retardation and complete dysfunction.

Stefan has a large number of benign changes in the cerebral cortex and in the brain itself, due to which he also has pharmacoresistant epilepsy. There are changes in both eyes and skin. At the age of three, Stefan has a great psychomotor delay - he can not walk, talk and his understanding is low.

He needs daily physical therapy treatments, sensory integration, speech therapist, defectologist, specialist examinations and various therapies and stimulations that could help him. Due to the uncertainty of the disease unfold, parents are forced to try everything that can improve Stefan’s development.

It is planned to visit  Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic in the USA to get an opinion on a potential surgery that can prevent seizures. In our country, this type of intervention is not provided to patients with TS. In the USA, it is a routine intervention, and it can greatly affect the child's further development and quality of life. Stefan is a cheerful and loving child. Let's do everything possible and help Stefan to overcome tuberous sclerosis.
