Sofija was born healthy, with a high score of nine. During the first month of her life, she looked like all healthy babies, but by the second month, Sofija completely stopped moving her arms. The pediatrician then recommended a neurological examination.

Thanks to the exceptional expertise of doctors, at two and a half months it was determined that she has a rare but extremely progressive and deadly neuromuscular disease - Spinal muscular atrophy type I. Children with this diagnosis live at most two years, and the disease is manifested by progressive muscle atrophy and loss of basic life functions, such as walking, digestion, swallowing and breathing.

No matter  the therapy she receives, at  nine and a half months, Sofija cannot fully hold her head, lift her, crawl, sit, turn it on her own, or raise her legs.

The only chance for little Sofija is an emergency treatment abroad, which is extremely expensive. The parents hope that with the help of all kind-hearted people they will be able to raise funds for medical treatment, travel and accommodation expenses during the treatment abroad, as well as for the necessary medical equipment to give Sofija a chance to cope with this severe illness.
