raises funds for Stefan Živanović (2015).

 

Stefan was born on 15 January 2015. He is the second child in the family. After birth, he developed normally, until the second year, when his mother noticed that he dragged his left leg while walking. The parents visited the doctors in the hope to find out what Stefan was suffering from.  It was obvious that he had muscular dystrophy.

 

Stefan was hospitalized in June 2019 at the Institute for Mother and Child in Belgrade, where he had a detailed specialist examination. During the hospitalization, hyperhydration was performed for 10 days, where, thanks to the doctors, a situation that could have been fatal for Stefan's life was avoided. A cardiologist's examination determined that Stefan's left half of the heart was larger than his right, that he was not able to perform complex motor actions (squatting, climbing and descending stairs). Fine motor skills are not precise enough for his age. He participates in social communication, understands and executes verbal orders. His speech is more difficult to understand and incorrect (baby talk). The doctor's recommendation is monitoring and intensive stimulation of development (speech therapist and physical treatments).

 

In August 2020, Stefan's parents received the result of a genetic test from Slovenia, where, unfortunately, Dischen's muscular dystrophy was confirmed (a disease that is present at birth, but the first disorders are noticed between age of 3 and 5, affecting only the boys, it is manifested by muscle atrophy, deformities, contours, disturbances  of the heart and breathing due to the involvement of the heart muscles. Over time the disease becomes more progressive and children lose the ability to walk).

 

In January 2021, after an examination by a pulmonologist, the cough assist device was proposed for conducting respiratory physical therapy in order to improve the strength of the respiratory muscles. The cost of the device is 4,300 euros, so the parents ask all the people, who are able, to help them make Stefan's life easier.

 

Stefan raises funds for a medical device, physical treatments, rehabilitation and medical aids.
